From Secretary's Desk (August 2019)

MPCA's website in a new design is being launched and I am having the privilege to communicate through this medium. I appreciate the efforts taken by all concerned for the new website.

MP U/14 team (boy's) clinched the coveted 'Raj Singh Dungarpur Trophy' for the season 2018-19. MPCA is proud of the players who achieved this success. The work done by support staff is also commendable.

I also congratulate our Boy's U/16 team for reaching the semi finals of the Vijay Merchant Trophy. Team played exceedingly well throughout the season, save the first innings of the semi final which resulted in our ouster. It was a young team with many players playing at the National stage for the first time. I hope the players shall use this experience to excel further in their cricket career.

Performance of our Boy's U/19 team was also good and team played the quarter-finals. So did the Women's team to find a berth in the super league of the T20 tournament. In general, the young cricketers emerging from the set-up are taking good efforts to excel. The manner in which we played throughout is a reflection of positive and aggressive mindset and approach, the two most crucial aspects in today's scenario.

The Junior Selection Committee of BCCI has shortlisted certain players in the pool of U/19 category. I am happy to note that 5 players from MP are a part of this pool. They are – Omkarnath Singh, Suraj Vashisht, Ishan Afridi, Irfan Ali, and Rahul Chandrol.

The season of BCCI for 2018-19 is over as far as MPCA teams are concerned. Having introduced few more teams in the domestic circuit, the tournaments were played under a new structure. The placement and position of our teams at the end of season is produced below for quick reference.

About the IPL, after successfully hosting IPL games in 2017 and 2018, we could not get the opportunity for the ongoing season. BCCI policy reflects that the matches shall be played only at home venues of the franchisee. Hence, any second venue was not in the reckoning.

MPCA will host the first Test of the two match series between India and Bangladesh, to be played from 14 November 2019 at Holkar Stadium, Indore. This will be our second Test match as host (after the inaugural Test in October 2016). We are also hopeful of the participation of Zimbabwe side for the T20I scheduled during January 2020.

MPCA's work in the areas of infrastructure development continues. Our ground at Hoshangabad is ready to host local cricket activities. The new ground at Morena is also ready and we look forward to activities commencing during coming season. As also, the basic development work at Rewa land has commenced recently.

Having said this, I look forward to your suggestions and support to continue with our aim of strengthening MPCA on a continuous basis.

My warm regards to all...
